Tonya Garman, BSN, RN, MSN, PMHNP-BC
ARNP
I Tonya Garman BSN, RN, MSN, PMHNP-BC (LIC#AP61411214) am devoted to and have a deep passion for mental health and psychiatry. I believe that everyone is deserving of a life that is joyful and should have the opportunity to be the best version of oneself.
Throughout my 29 years of nursing experience, I was always drawn to the area of mental health. I saw early in my career the deficit’s health care had in this area of medicine. I have seen firsthand how life can throw unexpected situations at someone and how hard the adjustments can be on an individual and their families. It is easy to become overwhelmed, anxious, and depressed in life circumstances or due to organic conditions of mental health. I believe in wrap-around care and multiple modalities of medicine. Medication management can be a short-term adjunct to your condition or can be long term, together you and I will see what works best for you. I believe that my role is to assist you during your process. I want you to feel that you have a team supporting you on reaching goals, you win, we win!
I graduated with my BSN from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1994. I have been an outstanding nurse with a high affinity to patient care and outcomes. I have worked in the areas of critical care, ER, surgery as well as primary care. I have been involved in multiple leadership roles and have worked on improvements in healthcare. I obtained my MSN from Walden University with a focus in psychiatry and mental health. I am very well trained not only in psychiatry but also in general medicine and health maintenance. I continuously stay up to date with the latest medical advancements by attending conferences, conducting research, attending monthly educational meetings, and belonging to professional organizations.
I enjoy giving back to the community and volunteering in multiple community events. I share my expertise in stress management and burn out with speaking engagements, and workshops. When I am not working, I enjoy cooking, being outdoors, traveling, and most of all being present when spending time with my family and friends.
