Kristen Zhou
Intern
I (Kristen Zhou) am a Charmed Counseling Intern. I am currently working on my Master of Social Work Degree at Liberty University, with an expected graduation date of May 2025. In 2009, I received my BA in Communication Studies and Religion and Culture, from Wilfrid Laurier University, located in Ontario, Canada. I was born and raised in Canada and then lived in South Korea for five years before moving to the United States in 2014. I have a background in working for non-profit organizations, which led me to pursue an education in Social Work. Through this process, I have developed a passion for counseling and supporting individuals with their mental health.
As a counselor in training, my desire is to come alongside clients as a helper, empowering individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and journey towards personal growth. With compassion and non-judgement, I view the client as the expert of their own lives. By relying on evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI), we can work together to process thoughts and experiences and build useful skills. I can provide support in a variety of areas including: identifying emotions, managing stress, addressing negative self-image, processing trauma, and developing a self-care plan. I work under the direct supervision of Jessica Weed, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LH61380825) and also receive supervision from Charmed owner and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Joeleen Wilkinson (LW 60649635). All consultations with my supervisors are confidential. I am able to offer in-person and telehealth services to best suit your needs.
