Makayla Wilson
LSWAIC
Hello! My name is Makayla Wilson and I am an LSWAIC (SC61588000) in Washington state! I received my Master of Social Work from Campbellsville University in 2021. Prior to this, I received a Bachelor of Science in Social work with a minor in Psychology from Weber State University in 2019.
While in school, I spent my time working in various inpatient and outpatient correctional settings. This gave me unique experiences to problem solve, and view things from a variety of perspectives to best serve my clients and help them get the most out of our sessions, and life as a whole. Now graduated, I aim to take that same energy and apply it to new scenarios as well as developing new insights, perspectives, and outlooks. For me, counseling is not just about offering solutions, but also about fostering a space where continuous learning and growth are paramount and can be applied and utilized far beyond the therapy office. Each interaction is a chance for mutual exploration and understanding, making every counseling experience uniquely transformative.
As a counselor, people may reach out to me to receive help addressing various concerns including depression, negative self-image, setting and maintaining boundaries, stress management, and LGBTQ+ related issues, along with many other emotional aspects that may cause distress.
Counseling may help with finding ways to increase motivation in life, managing stress appropriately, setting life goals, building communication skills, organizing priorities, strengthening and maintaining relationships, healing from past trauma and creating a positive outlook on life. My therapeutic modalities that I primarily follow include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Relational Therapy, Person Centered, and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
